………..As Pantami gives Term of Reference to Committee
The
Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Pantami has
given term of reference to the Committee on Citizen Data Harmonization in a bid
to address all the concerns raised by the United States Government.
Pantami
who chaired the Committee on Citizen Data Harmonization on Tuesday, 11 February
2020 in Abuja listed the Terms of Reference as:
1.
Identify all MDAs holding Citizen Data including biometrics;
2.
Obtain detailed brief on data held in terms of nature, size, available facility/capacity
of personnel;
3.
Review nature, quality, facilities of each MDA & capacity of personnel
4.
Propose strategies for harmonization, integration linkage as may be appropriate
5.
Estimate the timeline for full- data integration
6.
Estimate resource requirements.
It
will be recalled that the Committee on Citizen Data Management and
Harmonization was inaugurated by President
Muhammadu Buhari and the Committee has assured that it would enhance
speedy harmonization of Nigeria’s numerous citizen identification data held by
different government Ministries, Departments and Agencies with a view to
ensuring a single database owned and managed by the Federal Government.

members of the Committee include – Minister of Interior – Chairman
Minister of Communication and Digital Economy Minister of Foreign Affairs
Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning Attorney General of the
Federation and Minister of Justice Minister of Police Affairs Governor of the
Central Bank Inspector General of Police Comptroller General, Nigeria
Immigration Service Director General, State Security Services Director General,
Nigeria Intelligence Agency Director General, National Identity Management
Commission Director General, National Population Commission Others are –
Executive Chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Service Chairman, National Electoral
Commission (INEC) Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Commission Accountant
General of the Federation
The
Presidential Committee is expected to prepare and submit its final report on or
before 16th March, 2020.
