Pantami Inaugurates eGovernment Training Centre Governing Committee



The Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Pantami on Thursday 23rd January 2020 officially inaugurated the Governing Committee of the eGovernment Training Centre to enhance skills development that will drive a Digital Economy for a Digital Nigeria.

The Government Training Centre located at the Public Service Institute, Kubwa was sponsored by the Korea Government and handed over to the Federal Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy I November, 2019.

In his opening remark,the Hon. Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Dr. Pantami said center is aimed at promoting eGovernance in Nigeria especially among the Civil Servants under Federal Government Ministries, Departments and Parastatals.He also said the Center will establish Zonal Centers so as to extend the training to all Federal Government Civil Servants across the country.

Pantami further reiterated that the National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA and Galaxy Backbone Nigeria Limited will play major role at the Centre and the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy.

Pantami listed the Terms of Reference (TOR) for the committee which include(s):

1. Attend and contribute to all meetings;
2. Establish the legal and regulatory requirements for the center;
3. Review and monitor the operational procedures of the center;
4. Provide a strategy to ensure the sustainability of the center & oversee it’s implementation;
5. Monitor & ensure the facility & technology management of the center meets global standards and
6. Develop and implement strategy towards attracting funding, collaborations and expanding the center.

In his opening remark, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Musa Istifanus thanked the Korean Government for the center and said it will improve the Digital Skills and Learning of Civil Servants in Nigeria.

In his opening remark, the co-chair of the Committee and DG of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa, promised that the committee will ensure the Terms of Reference are implemented and help the Federal Government to implement eGovernance policy. He said the training will be monthly.

In his own remark, the co-chair and CEO if Galaxy Backbone, Prof. Muhammed Abubakar said the Committee is 100% ready to discharge it’s duties and implement Terms of Reference.

Other members of the Committee includes: Mukhtar Sadiq, Isyaku Yusuf, both Technical Assistant to the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Samuel Okoye, Director ICT, Prof. Sulaiman Muhammed, Head, Budget, NITDA, Usman Mamman, Dir. Human Capital & Admin. NCC, Martins Ahachi, Dir. Strategic Project, GBB, Yusuf Said, Dir. HR, Public Service Institute of Nigeria, Engr. Olukeko Olufemi Ag. Dir. eGovernance and Dir. in Charge of Digital Economy, Federal Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy.
